Why groups choose Krabi
Krabi is the destination we recommend when the objective is impact per delegate rather than volume. The limestone towers behind Railay and Ao Nang, the island clusters offshore and the low-rise resort development along Klong Muang produce a setting that photographs well and reads as a genuine reward. Groups leave with a stronger sense of place than they typically get from a larger, busier beach destination.
The scale needs to be understood upfront. Ballroom capacity across the province is modest, and a 600-delegate conference will not fit comfortably in a single property. Where Krabi excels is in the 30 to 300 range, and particularly in full or partial resort buyouts where a company effectively takes over a beach for three or four nights and controls the entire delegate experience.
Planning facts
- Airport & access
- Krabi International Airport (KBV), around 30 minutes to Ao Nang and 40-45 minutes to the Klong Muang and Tubkaek resort strip.
- Best season
- November - April
- Group size
- 20 - 400 delegates
- Getting there
- Frequent domestic connections from Bangkok plus limited regional services; many groups also arrive via Phuket and transfer by road or boat.
What makes Krabi work for corporate events
- Karst landscape and island scenery that function as a genuine incentive reward
- Low-density resorts where full or partial buyouts are realistic for mid-size groups
- Quieter and less commercialised than the main Phuket beaches
- Short airport transfers, so arrival day is not consumed by road time
- Strong soft-adventure inventory: kayaking, climbing, island hopping and jungle trails
Event venues in Krabi
The spaces we contract most often, and what each is genuinely suited to.
- Railay Beach Boat-access peninsula beneath vertical limestone cliffs, used for beach receptions and climbing programmes rather than indoor events.
- Hong Islands Sheltered lagoon system offshore from Ao Nang, the standard destination for private island days and kayak programmes.
- Wat Tham Suea (Tiger Cave Temple) Hillside temple complex and a landmark cultural inclusion, with a demanding staircase to the summit viewpoint.
- Klong Muang and Tubkaek resort ballrooms The province's main indoor meeting stock, generally suited to plenaries of 150-350 delegates with beach lawns adjoining.
- Ao Nang beachfront venues Restaurant and beach-club sites available for exclusive evening use, walkable from the main hotel cluster.
Where delegates stay
We describe hotel categories rather than naming properties - the right choice depends on your dates, rate and room-block size.
Klong Muang and Tubkaek low-rise beach resorts
The best combination of meeting space, beachfront and buyout potential in the province.
Ao Nang town-beach hotels
Higher room counts, walkable dining and the easiest base for groups on a tighter budget.
Island and boat-access resorts
Full-isolation properties reached only by longtail or speedboat, ideal for closed leadership retreats.
Cliffside and headland luxury villas
Small-key sites with private pools, used for top-tier incentive winners and executive programmes.
Meetings in Krabi
Krabi is a natural choice for offsite strategy sessions and leadership retreats. The isolation of the better resorts is the point: with no city distractions and no long transfers, a group stays engaged through a two-day agenda. We check connectivity and blackout capability during site inspection, because meeting rooms in resort properties vary considerably in how well they handle a serious working session.
- Resort buyouts giving a leadership group full control of the property
- Meeting rooms verified for blackout, acoustics and stable connectivity
- Outdoor breakout settings on beach decks and garden pavilions
- Private dining and boat-access dinner venues for closing evenings
Conferences in Krabi
Conferences in Krabi work best up to around 300 delegates in a single property, or up to roughly 400 when two neighbouring resorts share a plenary and split accommodation. Production teams and specialist AV generally travel from Bangkok or Phuket, so we build additional mobilisation time and cost into the budget rather than assuming local supply will cover it.
- Single-property plenaries in the 150-350 delegate range
- Twin-resort configurations within the same beach cluster
- Bangkok or Phuket production crews mobilised with extra load-in lead time
- Beach and lawn staging for opening receptions and awards dinners
Incentive programmes in Krabi
This is Krabi's core strength. A four-night incentive can run a private island day among the Hongs, a longtail sunset cruise past the Railay cliffs, and a beach dinner under the karsts, all with far fewer competing groups than Phuket in the same season. For high-achiever programmes the scenery does most of the work, and the budget can go into exclusivity rather than manufactured spectacle.
- Private island days to the Hong and Poda island groups with catered beach set-ups
- Longtail and speedboat charters sized from 20 to several hundred guests
- Sea kayaking through mangrove channels and hidden lagoon entrances
- Rock climbing and via ferrata sessions on the Railay limestone with certified guides
Exhibitions and trade shows in Krabi
Krabi is not an exhibition destination and we say so plainly. It can host small product showcases and dealer displays inside resort function space, but there is no dedicated exhibition hall, and any structural build must be freighted in by road from Bangkok or across from Phuket.
- Small-scale showcase layouts within resort ballrooms and pre-function areas
- Build materials road-freighted in, with extended lead times factored
- Better positioned as an incentive extension to an exhibition held elsewhere
Signature experiences in Krabi
Programme elements we build reward and networking days around.
Four Islands by longtail
Classic circuit taking in Poda, Chicken Island and the sandbar that appears between them at low tide.
Emerald Pool and hot springs
Inland forest trip to a spring-fed pool and cascading thermal baths, roughly an hour from the coast.
Railay climbing introduction
Guided first-time rock climbing on bolted limestone routes above the beach, all equipment supplied.
Krabi Town night market
Weekend market visit for southern Thai food, local produce and small-scale live performance.
Offsite venues and gala dinner options
- Beach dinners at the foot of the karst cliffs, lit by torch and staged lighting after sunset
- Private island lunches on Hong or Poda with catering and shade structures shipped in for the day
- Resort clifftop and headland decks taken exclusively for cocktail receptions at golden hour
- Longtail flotilla dinner cruise with a floating drinks station at anchor off Ao Nang
How we run Krabi on the ground
The operational detail that decides whether a programme runs to plan.
- Airport transfers run 30-45 minutes, so arrival-day programming is realistic even for late-morning flights
- Railay and the offshore islands are boat-access only; tide tables dictate landing times and we build the day around them, not the reverse
- Marine departures require licensed operators and passenger manifests; from May to October we hold land-based alternatives for every sea day
- Local supplier depth is thin, so we bring senior coordinators and critical equipment from Phuket or Bangkok rather than relying on the province alone
