Conference capability in Koh Samui
Conferences on Samui top out in the low hundreds. Groups above roughly 250 usually split across two adjacent resorts and share a plenary in whichever has the larger ballroom, with a five to ten minute shuttle between them. This is workable but should be priced and planned as a multi-property programme from the outset. Above 400 delegates we would generally steer a client to Phuket, Pattaya or Bangkok.
The honest limit is scale. There is no convention centre, and the largest hotel ballrooms handle a few hundred theatre-style rather than thousands. Airlift is the second constraint: the airport has limited slots and fares run above the domestic average. Groups that fit within those bounds get an island that is genuinely easy to run, with short transfers, good marine access and a mature supplier base.

What we deliver for conferences in Koh Samui
- Largest single ballrooms handle roughly 300-400 theatre style
- Two-property splits are common above 250 and need dedicated shuttle staffing
- Airlift capacity, not floor space, is usually the binding constraint
- We will recommend against Samui rather than overstate capacity above 400
Conference venues in Koh Samui
Quoted capacities assume maximum density with no stage. We size against your real set, screens and egress.
- Beachfront resort ballrooms, Chaweng and Bophut The island's main indoor capacity, typically 150-400 theatre style in the larger properties.
- Ang Thong National Marine Park Forty-two-island archipelago reached by charter for day programmes; a park with no event facilities, so catering is brought in.
- Fisherman's Village, Bophut Heritage Chinese-shophouse street that can be partially closed for street-format dinners and market takeovers.
- Wat Phra Yai (Big Buddha) and Bangrak headland Island landmark and viewpoint used as a ceremonial arrival or photography point rather than a dinner venue.
- Private beach clubs, north and west coasts Buyout venues for 80-250 guests with sunset orientation and in-house sound.
Delegate accommodation
Room-block strategy changes with group size - we will tell you when splitting across two properties is better than forcing one.
Bophut and Maenam north-coast resorts
Calm-water beaches and quieter frontage; the usual base for executive retreats.
Chaweng full-service beach resorts
Largest room counts and meeting space, with nightlife and retail on the doorstep.
Choeng Mon and Lamai boutique properties
Sixty to 120 rooms in sheltered bays, well suited to single-group buyouts.
Hillside private villa estates
Multi-bedroom villas with pools and staff, used for senior leadership groups of 10-40.
Conference dinner and offsite options
The evening programme is part of the same run of show, not an afterthought.
- Private bay dinner reached by longtail flotilla, with fire and drum arrival
- Fisherman's Village street closure for a night-market-style gala
- Clifftop beach club buyout timed to sunset over the Gulf
- Coconut plantation dinner under strung lighting, 20 minutes inland
Delegate movement and logistics
- The airport operates limited slots and premium fares; we hold group seats early and quote Surat Thani plus ferry as a costed alternative for larger groups
- The island ring road is single carriageway and congests through Chaweng at peak hours; coach movements are scheduled around 08:00 and 17:00
- Large-coach inventory on the island is finite, so groups above 120 typically move as staged minibus convoys with a lead escort vehicle
- October to December is the local monsoon, the reverse of the Andaman coast; we plan marine content only inside the February to August window
